One minute and some seconds is a reeeally short time, so Brianne and Ben had to do some actual (editing) magic when it came time to put the Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld animatics and final shorts together. Here is a shot from the end of the seventh short that was cut for time. Fans of the original comic might be able to take a guess at who those badly-drawn backs belong to…
YJ was my first job in animation. I was one of two storyboard revisionists, and it was the best intro to the industry ever. #SaveYJandGLTAS
I’ve still got loads of silly doodles on old script pages and print-outs. #SaveYJandGLTAS (Eduardo’s scarf is my fave!)
Whoa whoa how is it SDCC time already?! Are you guys ready?! (I’m not!!)
I will be at the BOOM! Studios booth on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning drawing custom sketch covers alongside Shelli, Braden, and Mike Holmes (!!). (I sketched the above cover at ECCC—man was I happy to get to draw Ricardio.) I’ll also be signing with a big ol’ party of Adventure Time and Marceline and the Scream Queens comic book artists on Saturday from 5pm to 6pm. For more Adventure Time and Scream Queens SDCC funtimes, check out the BOOM!Pen SDCC post.
The DC Nation panel is on Sunday at 1pm. I thiiink the focus is going to be primarily on upcoming shows Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman, but there will also be sizzle reels for Green Lantern, Young Justice, and the next wave of DC Nation shorts. I think the YJ reel might make fans do backflips. As for the shorts, I am looking forward to catching a glimpse of a certain gemstone-themed magical girl…
If I’m not at the BOOM! booth or attending a panel, I’ll be wandering around spending my money on books, prints, and food I can’t eat. Or sleeping curled up in a nice, quiet corner. Mmm, sleep.
I hope everyone has a safe and fabulous weekend!
